About Us

Since 2001, Akhuwat has been working for Poverty Alleviation

Akhuwat works to alleviate poverty through our flagship scheme, Qarz-e-Hasna – micro-lending without interest. The funds provided are repaid by recipients in manageable monthly instalments.

At Akhuwat, we’ve set a new precedent among Muslim charities by enabling donors to give Qarz-e-Hasna so that people in need can better their lives. When the borrowed funds are repaid, they can be reused, over and over again to help more people in need. Beneficiaries are able to borrow without interest, as per the Islamic standard which firmly forbids Riba – usuary.

We believe that people living in poverty want the chance to uplift themselves. Because no one deserves to be dependent on handouts. And because handouts aren’t sustainable.
